Company Overview

David F. McKinney Photography (DFM Photography) specializes in weddings and on-location portraiture. DFM Photography has been operating in Lawrence, KS, since 1988. From 1990 to 1995, D. F. McKinney was the primary photographer for major recruitment and public relations efforts at the Office of University Relations at the University of Kansas. Today, D.F. McKinney is a staff photographer for the University of Kansas.

DFM Photography began to emphasize wedding photography services after years of receiving chance referrals. He thoroughly enjoys the drama and excitement of weddings. DFM Photography upgrades photographic equipment frequently, so that state-of-the-art equipment is used for your wedding. The DFM Photography workflow is centered around the idea of providing clients with easy access to proofs and reprint-ordering via the internet. Because of D. F. McKinney's love for his work he has developed a mission statement that drives all is decisions.

DFM Photography offers professional wedding and portrait photography in Traditional, Romantic, and Journalistic styles. DFM Photography uses Nikon (35mm digital SLR cameras). DFM always visits the wedding rehearsal to get a final confirmation on times and location. At the rehearsal DFM makes photography logistic decisions based on the structure of the wedding rehearsal and prior consultations with the client.

Packages

Complete packages are available. Clients may choose the packages as they are or customize them according to their budget and interests. The primary different between the packages is the amount of time for which DFM is booked. Some packages include an on-location engagement photo sitting. All packages include proofbook, online ordering, and a 20% discount on reprints that are ordered online (90 days from the launch of the ordering web site). Images are printed with a lustre surface on Kodak paper.

A la carte options include: Parent Folios, additional reprint packages, additional proof books, DVDs of digital images, 16x20 wall prints, QTVR panoramas of your wedding or event, and much more.

The client may choose from a variety of album brands and styles. DFM offers the Renaissance brand library-bound albums as a the standard album. Competitive Advantage

DFM is an on-location specialist with a photo-journalism and advertising background. He has shot everything from aerial to underwater photography. His 8 years experience as a graphic designer is beneficial when clients want special digital effects and/or touchups. D. F. McKinney is the only photographer who will be shooting at your wedding. So, you know you can expect the same styles and quality you have seen in examples. DFM Photography has the experience and the equipment necessary to properly compose and light any wedding venue. Online proofing and ordering is made available within two to three weeks after the wedding.

DFM has structured its services and packages for clients who are looking for the moderately priced wedding photography package and a traditional blend of photography styles and services. DFM Photography is prepared for continental travel, to photograph weddings anywhere, at anytime.

David makes the extra effort to turn any venue into the optimal setting for your photography. This on-location approach is the difference between packaged photography and thoughtful photographic coverage of the one of the most important days of your life.

Individual Portraits and Groups

I will bring out each subject's best characteristics through the use of conversation, custom lighting, posing, soft or hard focus, and digital retouching tailored to each person's particular needs. Or, you decide what you want and I make it happen. I work well with children of all ages, teens and seniors, weddings and families, individuals and groups of all types for personal or business use.

Other

I prefer to meet with the client as many times as necessary to finalize the list of desired photos and iron out the timing of everything. I facilitate the planning and execution of the wedding photography. I do not plan the wedding.

Because of advances in film and lense technology over the past several years, digital 35mm format photography can deliver sharp, detailed, and rich images that are suitable for enlargements up to 16X20 inches (or larger). In the past, medium format cameras were most often used. This just isn't necessary anymore. Though, I'm happy to oblidge a request to shoot in medium or large format.
