Creating the photographs during the day of the wedding comprises the smaller fraction of the time that this photographer puts into preparing your wedding photographs. After the wedding day, there's the developing, editiing, posting of online proofs, optimizing digital files, processing orders, re-sending incorrect orders, building the album, etc. A lot of time and energy goes into all of the above.
An important thing to remember is that the photographer is often relying on others for key steps in the process of creating what will ultimately be your wedding album. Very few photographers have the time or the resources to develop their own negatives and prints. Much of a photographers success relies on the relationship that they have developed with their custom lab. Quality is the goal at every step of the process. Quality control takes time.
